About us
Bricolage Quilts is a small design studio based in Belfast, N.Ireland. It has developed through a gradual process and is the culmination of a life spent in architecture + design. The essence of Bricolage is in the name – a piecing together of available cloth and local Irish linens, to create contemporary quilts and homewares. Its influences come from a strong design background, the power of Irish nature, the inherent natural qualities of the linen cloth used and the familiar heritage of plant-dyeing processes.
Often referred to as ‘a meditation with the hands’, the process of sewing a quilt is an ancient one and one which I love. Quilts can bond a family history together in a truly personal way. All of my quilts are handquilted; each stitch captures a moment in time and shows the patient hand of the maker. My aim is to design + make products which lift the soul and stand the test of time – in essence, heirlooms which remain true to the raw materials used and which may be handed down through generations.
